Audio-Video Synch Tool that really works?

I've tried several that I can't get the hang off. Virtual dub is one of
them.

Anyone recommend a tool to get my video and audio into synch?

Part of my problem is for some reason my clips are in synch in the
first half of the clip, but go out of synch in the second half.

VurtualDub will work if audio 1000 ms or less out of sync. I've used
TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress to figure out audio sync delay. I've found
(sometimes) if the source fps is incorrectly detected can cause audio
sync problems.

Figure how much audio shift adjustment you need to sync audio at
a point at the beginning and a point at the end. Lip sync audio 100ms
increments till best as possible and then fine tune with 50ms
increments.

Goldwave (Effect: Time Warp)
Say at the begining the audio is off by -1000ms
and and the end the audio is off by -1500ms

You need to cut 1000ms from begining and shrink (time) the audio by
500ms using Goldwave effect "Time Warp".

First find out how it got out of sync. Does it get progressively out of sync
in the second half? If so, you may have to stretch/compress the audio track
to fit the video track. There are two methods. Method one is to find quiet
spots on the track and add more quiet or delete some quiet from them. If
there are very few quiet spots on the audio track, then you can't use this
method. Method two is to time stretch/compress the audio track.

Or does it go out of sync by a fixed amount of time everywhere in the second
half? If so, just locate where out of sync starts and cut the audio/video to
make the rest fall in sync.
