After Effects blurs image on import

joshuaaa...
I'm sure this is a silly problem, but JPEGs and PSD's that i import
into after effects and then drag to the comp window are somewhat
blurred. They are also blurred when the animation is rendered.

Roger...
After Effects is attempting to resample the graphic, and in this case,
you do not want this to happen.
Here's how you stop After Effects from resampling it, and insure that
your graphic is as clear as the original:
The easy way is be sure the original graphic has even sizes (even
dimensions, not odd dimensions), then drag the graphic onto the
Timeline, which will automatically center the image in the comp. The
Anchor Point should show whole numbers, e.g., 384.0, 290,0 and not
something like 384.5, 290.5.
The other way is to change the Anchor Point to whole numbers.

Roger's Adventures:

Layer -> Quality is set to best. Funny thing is, when i double click
the image to view it in its own window, it looks perfect.

Any help appreciated...

Richard Crowley...
Are you expecting higher resolution from video than it can deliver?

Nappy...
When you double click on them they are shown in their native resolution.
What rez are your stills and what is the res of the AE file set to?
