I have an AMD XP 3200 barton with SATA video raid 0 10,000
1 gig ram, pretty solid server mounted video rig.
Id like to sell it and buy a laptop for remote editing and DVrack.
But I'm wondering, can a laptop really edit video, render,
The HDD is slow 7200 RPM and only one at that!
Current system had THREE HDD, Pro sound card.. stays cool..
Any one have good results with a Laptop?
I could not afford to keep this computer and a laptop at the same time.

You can absolutely run both programs on a Laptop. On an under $1,000
laptop you are going to run into a couple of gotchas:
1) You need a minimum of 1 GB of ram.
2) Most laptops come with a 5400 RPM drive. While this is OK, you'll
find that a 7200 RPM drive will give you better performance
3) Screen & graphics. Obviously the bigger the screen the better.
Unfortunately budget laptops have lower quality graphics
So wqhile the answer to the question is yes, reality says that you
should have a $1500 budget for the laptop.
